When I was little, and I'll have to admit last week, I would imagine the moment when I was going to get engaged. I would think about how he would do it and what we would say. I would imagine the whole works. I always had this fairy tale going through my head. Well, I would have to say that Tyrel lived up to the dreams I have always had and made our night better than the fairy tales. On December 28 Tyrel came to pick me up from my house to take me to a "ho down" that was happening in Salina with his family. He said that what was going to happen there would be a surprise. I thought that "it" was going to happen that night prior to when I found out what we were doing but as we drove he told me what the plans were and my thoughts of "it" happening were dwindling away. We had to stop at his Grandparents to get a scarf for his mom on the way. As we were approaching Ephraim I told Tyrel I wanted to stop at Maverik to get a drink and a snack. He really didn't want to but I told him that I can't drive through E-town and not go to Maverik. Being the great boyfriend he is he stopped and we went in to get my drink. As we were driving to Manti Tyrel pulled the car over and told me that my late Christmas present came and that it was too big to fit in the car and he had gotten his brother Colt to bring it over in his truck. He pulled out the scarf he got for his mom and told me that I had to put it on so that I couldn't see what my present was. We drove around and I had no clue where we were. I was trying to pay attention to where he was driving but he was making all sorts of turns. He parked the car, came around to me and helped me get my coat on. We walked a bit and as he was telling me that there were stairs I tripped. After that we walked up what felt like a thousand stairs. We the walked through snow that was about to my calves. By this time I was hoping and thinking that we were getting engaged:) He had me step over something. He handed me some flowers and hugged me and talked to me for a bit telling me things about us and how much he loved me. He then told me when he said three I could take my blind fold off. When my blind fold came off I saw him kneeling on the ground and he said, "Katie will you marry me?"
I of course said yes and saw my ring hanging from the tree. He took the ring down and placed it on my finger. I couldn't believe this was actually happening and I couldn't stop smiling and laughing. It was better than I had ever imagined. As I got the chance to look around I could see that we were at the Manti temple back in some trees. We were in the middle of a heart that was lit by candles in mason jars and rose petals on top of the snow. I felt like I was living a dream.
I feel so blessed and lucky. I couldn't ask for a better person to spend the rest of my life with. He is my best friend. I can't wait to start our new journey. I love you Tyrel.
